Resume of Mission: Strike attack report showed bombing results were poor.  Bomb pattern 1250 feet wide cut through revetment area to north of field and probably destroyed two aircraft and possibly a third.  Airfield remained operative.  Fifty-three S/E and 9 T/E visible.  Enemy air opposition - 14 E/A sighted made10 attacks.  One enemy aircraft destroyed with none probably destroyed and damaged.  A/A heavy, meager and 90% inaccurate.  Five to 8 E/A made up to 8 inaccurate phosphorus bomb attacks.  Four aircraft landed at Iwo Jima.  Average bomb load: 8507 lbs.   Average fuel reserve: 464 gallons.
