Resume of Mission:  Photo reconnaissance showed buildings in S ¾ of plant destroyed or structurally damaged, with a majority of these buildings being completely destroyed.  Bomb patterns indicated probably destruction of buildings in the northern area of the Target.  The Target may be considered as being completely destroyed.  All bombing was visual.  Two A/C were non-effective.  Flak was meager, inaccurate at Target.  12 E/A sighted made 17 attacks.  Claims 0-0-2.  Average Bomb Load:  14,964 lbs.  Average Fuel Reserve:  734 gallons Eleven B-29’s landed at Iwo Jima.
